is a docent?
Docents are the corps of volunteer guides who staff the museum
and railpark, offering tours to visitors.
What
are the tasks a docent performs?
The docent provides guided tours of the rail cars for guests visiting
the Historic Railpark and Train Museum.
What
days/hours are docents needed?
Docents are currently needed for several different time slots. If you are interested, contact us for more information.
What
are the benefits of becoming a docent?
The benefits of being a docent are:
1) the pleasure of sharing local and regional history with visitors;
2) meeting people visiting Bowling Green from across the USA;
3) sharing of Southern Hospitality to visitors;
4) assisting with school groups;
5) complimentary membership in the Friends of L&N Depot, Inc,
program allowing unlimited visits to the railpark;
6) shopping discount in the gift shop;
7) participation in monthly social/program events

Other volunteer opportunities
will be available as we develop our school programs and event
calendar. If someone wants to be included in a list of volunteers
for these programs, we would be delighted to add them to our volunteer
